Psychotherapy for Couples

Human beings are deeply relational; we seek intimate bonds not only for our physical survival, but also for our emotional well-being. We are hard wired for connection as we have learned about human primordial anatomy and brain structures. Much of our satisfaction in life depends on our ability to create and maintain meaningful and mutually satisfying relationships. Committed relationships (with or without marriage) can be our greatest source of love, support, and joy. There is a plethora of research studies that confirm our need for connection and how having supportive, loving relationships are indicative of longevity, health, and overall well-being.

There are many key components to a successful and meaningful relationship. Appropriate communication, compromising and empathic listening are a few skills needed to promote a healthier and productive union.

The Resilient Helix is a team of diversely skilled and deeply compassionate therapists providing marriage counseling, couples therapy, and premarital counseling. Couples therapy differs from individual therapy in that the “client” is actually the couple, as a unit. Often times couples therapy is needed as an adjunct with individual or family therapy.

All of our providers offer couples therapy.

Psychotherapy for Families

Family relationships are an important part of psychological health and wellness.  Reactions, thoughts and feelings do not occur in a vacuum. Often time an individual's emotional and behavioral difficulties are created and maintained by problematic family dynamics. Many of these family dynamics have been transmitted through generations. The focus of family therapy treatment becomes helping a family problem solve, change communication, behavioral patterns and belief systems to bring about a healthier version of itself.

All of our providers offer family therapy.
